The Full Story
My First Semester
When getting accepted into IUPUI I did not really grasp the concept of college or put much thought into it, as I saw it being like any other year of school. However, during bridge, I quickly realized college is a huge milestone that teaches you so many life skills. I was surprised to make a connection with medical terminology Professor Cranfill. Professor Cranfill gave me advice and resources for my program, that gave me enough confidence to aim for high grades and an acceptance letter.
Strengths and Weaknesses
My first semester of college was huge eye opener and taught me a lot about myself. It clarified my ease in learning vocabulary words, like in medical terminology. However, exemplified my weakness in being able to apply those in depth, like in anatomy. I knew that I have a strong work ethic but my ability to say no to hanging out and sticking to a routine schedule made me proud in knowing that I can do things if I have a true passion for it. However, throughout all of this I recognized my weakness of not wanting to ask for help when needed. Overall college has brought to surface many traits of mine.
Major Lessons Learned
This semester opened my eyes to reality finically, academically, and about myself. I experienced the effects of college costs firsthand, which helped me to push to succeed and have all the money put into my education be worth it. I also learned that it is okay to ask for help and utilize resources, as it is normal. Finally, the importance of time management was huge for me, and I will maintain a healthy schedule for myself for the rest of my life. I wish to tell my future self, utilize resources and do not be so stubborn.
